Set In 1964, like the death of his wife, Ip Man discovers he has throat cancer due to smoking. After his chaotic son Ip Ching fights encourage adjacent to a bully, he gets expelled, and Ip decides to travel to San Francisco, associated States to see for a school. Meanwhile, Hartman, a Staff Sergeant in the associated States Marines, attempts to persuade Barton Geddes, the Gunnery Sergeant, to incorporate Chinese martial arts into their hand-to-hand lawsuit training. Geddes proves that the Marines' current Karate training is superior by asking him to fight the Marines' Karate instructor, Colin Frater, who defeats Hartman. Wan is seriously upset from the fight like Geddes. Ip, filled like emotions, finally reveals to his son that he has cancer, which finally allows him to chat to his father more than the phone after many attempts by Ip. Ip is brought into the Marines' camp by Hartman, and defeats Geddes in a fight. Wan has already prepared the letter for Ip, but the latter said that he does not objective to impinge on to San Francisco as he does not like the place. Ip reconciles like his son. Ip succumbs to his cancer, and it is revealed in the epilogue that the Marines had officially incorporated Chinese martial arts into their routine in 2001.
